The pousadas in the center of the city are only for the hardcore, the foolish, and the desperate. The streets around the plaza are full of partiers, at least on the weekends, and bands plug in their amps and play on the streets in front of the pousadas, competing with the loud music emanating from the bars and restaurants. In particular, the Pousada Benedita and the Pousada Marakatu are only a few meters from the center of the nightly street party.

At the center of the city the pousadas are cheaper, around R$50 per night (maybe cheaper if you don’t get your own room). There are a few albergues that go as low as R$30 per night, but don't serve breakfast.

Pousada Vila delle Rose

The Pousada Vila delle Rose is located on the Rua Manoel Uchôa, about twenty steps from the beach. Named after a famous nightclub in Rimini, this pousada provides a friendly, quiet atmosphere within a five minute walk of the main attractions of Porto de Galinhas.

The rooms are sparsely furnished – a bed or two, a cabinet, a tv, and a bathroom. Some, but not all, rooms have minibars as well. Breakfast is adequate, consisting of tapiocas, cake, fruits, bread, ham, cheese, and other options. The proprietor, Rose, speaks reasonable English (a rarity in Porto de Galinhas), but the rest of the staff does not. The common area is tranquil, with hammocks and tables in the shade, surrounded by plants. The owner rescued a baby tamarin from the hands of a group of boys, and has raised him since he was a baby. The friendly (and fearless) monkey has the run of the yard, to the delight (and occasional fright) of the guests, but the staff will confine him if he persists in bothering those present.

Pousada Doce Cabana

The Pousada Doce Cabana is situated well away from the center of Porto de Galinhas, so that it appears to be in another world – one of quiet residential streets that are empty in the midday sun – but it is in fact only a fifteen minute walk from the center of the city. While it calls itself a pousada, it is in fact a small hotel, and it has all the amenities – a pool with a swim-in sauna, a full breakfast, a free internet connection for the guests, and English speakers on staff. The Pousada Doce Cabana also has two English speaking drivers on call, should any guests wish to explore the beaches around Porto de Galinhas.
